Hydro Jetting in Orange County: Clear the Line, Not Just the Clog

A drain snake pokes a hole through a clog. Hydro jetting scours the whole inside of the pipe. Klean Plumbing offers hydro jetting in Orange County for homes, restaurants and apartment buildings, and we'll tell you when jetting is the right call and when it isn't.

What Is Hydro Jetting?

Hydro jetting sends high-pressure water through a hose and nozzle into your drain or sewer line. The water blasts grease, sludge, scale and debris off the pipe walls and flushes it away. It cleans the pipe itself, so the line runs like it should, not just until the next clog.

Hydro Jetting vs. Snaking

SnakingHydro jetting
How it worksA cable breaks up or pulls out the clogHigh-pressure water cleans the pipe walls
Best forA single clog, such as a toilet or sink blockageRepeat clogs, grease, heavy buildup and main lines
What's left behindBuildup on the pipe walls can remainWalls are scoured clean
Good to knowUsually the first and least expensive stepNot right for damaged or fragile pipe

When Hydro Jetting Makes Sense

  • The same drain keeps clogging after you've had it snaked
  • Several fixtures drain slowly at once, which points to the main line
  • Grease buildup, especially in commercial kitchens
  • Roots in the line. Jetting can cut them back, but they'll return unless the pipe is repaired.
  • A camera inspection shows heavy buildup on the pipe walls
  • Scheduled maintenance for restaurants and apartment buildings

When We'll Tell You Not to Jet

Hydro jetting isn't for every pipe. Cracked, collapsed or badly deteriorated pipe can be damaged by high pressure, and jetting won't fix a broken line. That's why we look before we blast. On one Anaheim apartment complex job, we installed a clean-out on a 6" sewer line, then ran a video camera inspection and snaked the line. We choose the method after we see what's in the pipe.

Hydro Jetting for Restaurants and Commercial Kitchens

Grease is the number one enemy of a commercial kitchen's drains. A backed-up line can shut down service. We work around your hours, and we've handled emergencies for restaurants, including a 100-gallon water heater installed for an Anaheim restaurant on a Sunday afternoon. Sewer mains at apartment communities carry a lot of use too, and a backup affects many units at once. We schedule around your tenants and send photo documentation with a clear invoice.

Will Hydro Jetting Make a Mess?

It shouldn't. Jetting mostly happens at a clean-out or other access point, and we protect the area around it. Inside a home, that means drop cloths and shoe covers. In a commercial kitchen, we protect floors and equipment and clean up before we leave. That's the Klean Standard, on a job most people expect to be messy.

How Much Does Hydro Jetting Cost?

The price depends on the line size, access, how much buildup there is and whether we need a camera first. You'll have an upfront price before we start. If the camera shows a broken line, see drain cleaning for repair options.

Hydro Jetting FAQs

Is hydro jetting safe for my pipes?
It's safe for pipe in good condition. It isn't right for cracked, collapsed or badly deteriorated pipe. We look first, and we'll tell you if jetting isn't the right move.
What's the difference between hydro jetting and snaking?
Snaking clears a clog. Hydro jetting cleans the pipe walls with high-pressure water, so buildup doesn't cause the next clog.
How often should a restaurant hydro jet its drains?
It depends on your menu, volume and how much grease reaches the line. We'll set a schedule that fits your kitchen.
Will hydro jetting remove tree roots?
It can cut them back. Roots grow back unless the pipe is repaired or replaced. A camera inspection shows how bad it is.
Do I need a camera inspection first?
Usually, yes. It shows what's in the line and whether jetting is safe.
Can I get hydro jetting at night or on weekends?
Yes. We're open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
